AKA – Everything we know about this mess.
Every quarter, MSFT will update some courses and retire others. At this time, they will issue a retirement/update notice.
If a course is retired
90 days after the retirement notice, the course will stop being able to issue certificates.
In this case
- Enrollment should be stopped on this course (customer should set the enrollment end date to the past)
- The end date of the course should be set to the cutoff point
- Learners currently enrolled should be notified that the course will no longer issue certificates beyond the end date.
If a course is updated
90 days after the update notice, the old version of the course will stop being able to issue certificates.
The new version of the course will have a new run ID, so needs to be imported as a brand new course, not an update to the old one.
In this case:
- The customer has to provide us with updated versions of courses
- The start date should be set to the day the course becomes available
- Enrollment should be stopped on the old course (customer should set the enrollment end date to the past)
- The end date of the old course should be set to the cutoff point
- Learners currently enrolled should be notified that an updated course is available, and the old course will no longer issue certificates beyond the end date.
