To make a course self-paced, first make sure the course is open to new students. To do this, enter edX Studio and go to the Schedule & Details page (Found under the “Settings” drop down menu). Under Course Schedule, look to make sure the Course Start Date is set to a day that has already passed. Also make sure the Course End Date is left empty.

Now to make sure your students are aware your course is self-paced, and they aren’t worried they may have missed the beginning, you’ll need to go into Advanced Settings (Also under the “Settings” drop down menu). From here, scroll down until you see Course Advertised Start Date. In this field, simply type what you want the student to see, such as “Self-Paced” or “Enroll Anytime.”
